When I started out in portraiture, I decided to create some inspo boards on Pinterest. This way, I could more clearly see the through lines in the types of images I wanted to create, editing styles, and more.
Even now, I still create Pinterest boards for and with my portrait clients so we can really SEE the vibe we’re trying to create.
But it’s always deeply bothered me that the VAST majority of these gorgeous images I see online are of models. 6 feet tall, size 2, absolutely stunning, skinny, and to be honest, easy af to create gorgeous images of.
Being photogenic or a certain body type isn’t a skill - it’s got NOTHING to do with you. It’s how you were born and I’m pretty sure you have almost no control over that.
But in this world, we seem to prioritize a very small percentage of genetics and put them on pedestals of beauty ideals. And anything outside of that needs to be tucked away.
I’m certainly not 6 feet tall and a size 2 and I see ALL the flaws in my face. And im constantly bothered that the only glamorous, editorial, cinematic images I can find on Pinterest are of people who don’t look like me or most of my clients.
I want that to change. I want to show that despite your age, your skin color, your size, or whatever other ‘beauty’ metric, YOU can have mind blowingly gorgeous images of yourself that evoke feelings, tell a story, help you promote your brand, and will make you look back in 20 years and say ‘DAMN’.
I want the world to see you for WHO you are, not what you look like.
I want normal people to take over Pinterest and ad campaigns and runways and shift the paradigm so we are all represented as beautiful, worthy of being seen, and as a piece of art. You can be the subject of gorgeous, creative portrait photography, as long as you have the desire.
I want to capture the artists, the dreamers, the doers, the creators, the genuine hearted. And those people don’t need to look a certain way. They need to BE a certain way.
I’m so excited to create some magic with you.
